Pirastro P219381 violin string D-3 medium, gut core, silver

The Pirastro P219381 D-3 medium is a gut core violin string with a silver winding, specifically designed for the D string. This combination produces a warm, balanced tone with clear articulation and response, allowing fast passages and bowing techniques to be clearly audible. The gut core responds well to dynamics and bow pressure, while the silver winding enhances tone projection and sustain—a single string that preserves classic sound with a modern playing experience.

With medium tension, this D-3 string offers a pleasant balance between playing comfort and tonal power. It offers no compression during forte passages, yet also offers plenty of resonance when playing pianissimo. This string is suitable for players seeking an open, sparkling tone for chamber music and live performances, and who prefer to maintain consistent intonation over extended playing periods. Use it as part of a violin set, adjusting the remaining strings for a balanced timbre across the entire instrument.
