Pirastro P214341 violin string D-3 medium (16 3/4), gut core, aluminium

The Pirastro P214341 D-3 medium (16 3/4) is a gut core violin string with aluminum winding. The gut core produces a warm, full fundamental tone with rich overtones, while the aluminum winding provides clarity and stable projection across the entire register. Thanks to its medium tension, the string responds directly to bow strokes and dynamics, allowing for controlled articulation in both soft arpeggios and powerful accents. This combination of classic warmth and modern feel makes the D-3 a solid choice for violinists seeking an expressive, balanced sound. Specifically designed for the D string in violin parts, this string is well-suited for chamber music and orchestral work, where a warm fundamental and clear mid- and high-end range are desired. The use of a gut core with aluminum winding offers a traditional sound with improved wear resistance and consistent tuning compared to full gut or fully synthetic alternatives. Note: When using gut strings, moisture and temperature affect tension; store and inspect the string after installation to maintain optimal intonation.
