Since 2000, Kangaba (with the participation of its artists) has been planting a variety of trees for use in instrument production.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eThe professional instruments are made of dugura, teak, and boumou wood. These woods have an incomparable sound and are found only in this region of West Africa between Mali and Guinea. All are made with natural goat and\/or cow hides. The hides are untreated; they are simply shaved by hand with a razor. The ropes are pre-stretched, French-made, and specially designed by Kangaba.
