Stage pianos

Buy a stage piano

Are you looking to buy a stage piano for home, the studio, rehearsals, or performances? At VDS Instrumenten, you will find a wide range of stage pianos for beginners, advanced players, and professional musicians. A stage piano combines a good piano keyboard with high-quality sounds, extensive connectivity, and a compact design.

Many models feature 88 weighted keys with hammer action, making the playing feel close to that of an acoustic piano. At the same time, a stage piano remains easier to move than a traditional home piano.

What is a stage piano?

A stage piano is a digital piano designed for flexible use. You can use it on stage, in the studio, during rehearsals, or simply at home. Unlike a fixed furniture-style piano, a stage piano usually does not have a built-in cabinet stand. This allows you to choose your own suitable stand and makes the instrument easier to transport.

Stage pianos are often equipped with various piano, electric piano, and keyboard sounds. Depending on the model, you also get features such as split, layer, effects, MIDI, USB, and extensive audio connections.

Stage piano for home

A stage piano is not just suitable for performances. This type of electric piano can also be a great choice for home, especially if you have limited space or want to move your piano occasionally.

With a good piano stand, sustain pedal, and possibly a piano bench, you can easily turn a stage piano into a complete home setup. Would you prefer a piano that comes standard with a cabinet and fixed pedals? Then check out our home pianos.

Stage piano for performances and rehearsals

For musicians who perform regularly, a stage piano is a practical choice. The instruments are built to be easily portable and often feature connections for amplifiers, active speakers, mixing consoles, and other equipment.

Features such as multiple zones, using multiple sounds simultaneously, and quick switching between sounds are also useful for live use. Some professional stage pianos also feature extensive MIDI functions that allow you to control external equipment or software.

Stage piano for studio and production

A stage piano is also widely applicable in a studio. Many models feature USB MIDI, traditional MIDI connections, or even a built-in audio interface. This allows you to use the piano to control virtual instruments and music software on a computer.

A stage piano with a well-weighted keyboard can therefore replace both your digital piano and your MIDI controller.

Stage piano with 88 weighted keys

Do you want a realistic piano feel? Then choose a stage piano with 88 weighted keys. These models replicate the feel of an acoustic piano as closely as possible. The keys offer resistance and respond to how hard or soft you play.

In addition to models with fully weighted keys, there are also lighter and semi-weighted stage pianos. These can be interesting if you play a lot of organ, synthesizer, or keyboard parts and prefer a faster keyboard action.

Stage piano or digital piano?

A stage piano is essentially a type of digital piano. The main difference lies in the design. A traditional digital piano is often aimed at home use, while a stage piano is designed for flexible setup and transport.

Are you mainly looking for a fixed piano for the living room? Then a home piano is often a better choice. Do you want to be able to take your instrument with you easily or decide for yourself which stand, pedals, and speakers you use? Then a stage piano is a better fit.

Stage piano or digital grand piano?

Are you looking to combine the appearance of a traditional grand piano with modern digital technology? Take a look at our digital grand pianos. These models are larger and less suitable for transport, but they make for a striking centerpiece in a living room, on a stage, or in a hospitality venue.

A stage piano, on the other hand, is developed for flexibility and takes up significantly less space.

What should you look for when buying a stage piano?

When choosing a stage piano, the keyboard, the sounds, and the connections are most important. If you mainly play piano, 88 weighted keys with hammer action are a logical choice. If you use many different sounds, look at the number of voices, split and layer functions, and the controls.

For live use, good audio outputs are important. For studio use, USB, MIDI, and audio interface functions may be useful. Also, pay attention to the weight if you want to transport the stage piano regularly.
