Description
The Sela SE 221 is a handmade nitrided steel handpan in D Amara tuning at 440 Hz. You play intuitively because all notes are within a single fixed scale. As a result, combinations always sound good, and you can create melodies and rhythms immediately without experience. The D Amara scale has an open D minor sound and gives you a lot of freedom, from calm and meditative pieces to more rhythmic playing.
The nitrided steel provides a harder surface and a shorter sustain. This results in a more percussive sound and better separation of notes, which aids in faster playing and clear articulation. This also makes the instrument suitable for beginners who want to build control. However, you must regularly clean and protect the material from moisture. The handpan comes with a sturdy, padded bag with handles and backpack straps.
